1921 Packard First Series Model 116 Five Passenger Touring

Offered out of long-term ownership from a seasoned vintage Packard collector in central Virginia is this wonderful unrestored First Series 1921 Packard Model 116 'Single Six' Five Passenger Touring.

Purchased when new by an employee of the Packard Corporation in Detroit, it remained in his ownership for many years, having its first and only comprehensive repaint in 1937, the majority of which remains presentable to this day. The rear fenders were redone by the vendor about a decade ago, yet do not exhibit a non-uniform finish quality against the rest of the car. The car's original Pullman-built aluminum body is incredibly straight and sound throughout, as are the steel fenders front and rear.

The car's brightwork, erectable top and black leather upholstery on seats, door and other interior panels are absolutely original throughout, the car's original side curtains still in their rear door pockets with the rails beneath the rear seat. The car's original tools, for that matter, remain in the compartment beneath the driver's seat. Easily-removed leatherette coverings protect the delicate hides when in use.

The car has been maintained well by a succession of dedicated owners over the years with a large folder of records available for perusal. Most recently, historic car expert mechanic Marcus Lawton performed numerous tasks to the Packard, including a rebuild of the steering gearbox and carburetor as well as a thorough tune-up and chassis greasing. While not without its quirks as an 91-year-old automobile, the six-cylinder engine springs to life effortlessly and drives well with plenty of power on tap.

A collection of spare mechanical parts is available from the vendor at additional cost, preference goes to the winning bidder of this car.
