1961 Porsche 356B T-5 1600 Super Notchback coupe

Porsche's 1961 production run of 'Notchback' 356 Coupes was unique in that it was essentially the cabriolet body with the optional detachable steel hardtop welded on. The windshield was the same as the cabriolet and one inch shorter than that in the standard coupe. The fuel filler remained inside the front compartment.

The T5 was a one year model with just 1,048 made in 1961 in total with the number of Supers thought to be fewer than 600. There were fewer 'Notches' built than there were Speedsters (4000), and there are proportionately many fewer survivors. Most notably, most T-5s were later cut up to make cabriolets. The following year's production, the 356 T-6, was a new design in that the new T-6 notchback coupe body did not start life as a cabriolet, but rather with its own production design; in essence, part cabriolet rear end design, part T6 coupe windshield frame and a unique hard top.

Offered here is a fantastic, no excuses restoration of a brilliant 1961 Porsche 356B T-5 'Notch' 1600 Super that has won numerous awards in its current, long-term ownership including the Dayton, Ohio Concours d'Elegance and at numerous Porsche Club of North America events. Bodied by Karmann, it is finished in black over a tan leather interior and every detail has been redone to authentic fashion - inside and out, under the hood and beneath were all restored to the same quality. A Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche as well as a new and correct tool kit conveys with this car. It is unlikely that a finer example, particularly in these colors and with such attention to detail, exists anywhere.
