1940 Austin American Bantam Speedster SELLING WITHOUT RESERVE/ABSOLUTE Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky

Description:

Offered without reserve from the estate collection of William A.C. Pettit, III is this 1940 Austin American Bantam Speedster Phaeton with coachwork by Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky.

Chassis No. 65276 is a representative of the rarest Bantam produced; powered by a 50.1 cubic-inch, 22 horsepower 4 cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual transmission, it was touted in the day to deliver 65 miles per gallon.

The Speedster model was the sportiest of the Bantam models, and offered open-top rides for two and a luggage tray in the rear with room for a weekend bag.

The erectable top and irons stored behind the car's back seat when not in use - these are included but were not put on for the purposes of photography.

This vehicle is finished in a dark maroon with light brown side coves, and beautifully accented by black fenders and a maroon interior along with a black cloth top with maroon beading. The car was professionally restored some years back, and still displays very well inside and out.
